Introduction

Sailing is utilized for more than just traveling from port to port or visiting remote islands in the sea. Improve your ship, obtain a crew to make them ready for dangerous waters and sailing cooperative events that await you daily. Let's find out how it can be done!

Ship Setting Overview

The first thing you see when you enter the Ocean is your ship, crew and various settings you can interact with, here is what they do:

Upgrade Your Ship

If you want higher resistances, durability, more sail speed and additional crew slots, then consider upgrading the level of your ship. To do so, a few things are required: Basic Timber, Normal and Uncommon Ship Parts Material and various types of ship Materials. You will require higher rarity versions of these materials for higher ship levels.

• Timber can be purchased from Merchant Ships in all harbors or Trade Merchants in your Stronghold.
• Part Materials are crafted at a Processor NPC found in major cities or bought from the Auction House.
• Additional Materials can be bought from Merchant Ships in all harbors for sailing coins.

The total amount of materials required to reach the maximum level(11) of any ship are as follows:

Ship Resistance Per Level

Ships in Lost Ark are strong in some Hazardous Waters while weaker in others. The Estoque and Astray are the exceptions because they provide balanced resistances across all Hazardous Waters. This is not always a good thing because if you're looking to optimize for specific areas of the sea, you might want to invest into a ship which has resistances and a crew providing good bonuses for it.

Crew Members

Sailors you've obtained from your Main Story quests won't get you far. You can acquire additional crew members by exchanging Pirate , Gienah's or Procyon's coins with Merchant Ships in all continent harbors. Prices for sailors vary depending on their rarity.

Other sources for crew members include:

• Collectible Rewards
• Treasure Map Reward

Sailing Co-op Event

Sailing Co-op takes place three times a day, this can be tracked in the calendar or the alarm window on the top left of the screen. These events have set starting locations depending on the continent they take place in, seen in the picture below. When participating in them make sure you're on time and in a well populated channel as the highest rewards are obtained for the quickest completion. After a 3 minute setup period the initial event will begin. When completed, it will spawn the next event somewhere nearby. There are a total of 3 events for each Sailing Co-op. Participating in them grants you sailing coins and a chance to obtain extra keys like: Gienah's Key and Procyon's Key.

Bonus Loot

When the event ends, a chest will appear in the middle of the sea with blue arrows pointing you towards it. Use your sailing co-op keys and open this chest to get sailing coins and a chance for a Treasure Map. Just like regular secret maps, you can visit its marked location and gain rewards. These include: Gold, Card XP and Sailing Crew members. Note that these treasure maps are 1 player only and cannot be shared with others, unlike land maps.

Drifting Passengers

This event takes place in Dead Water areas and revolves around interacting with floating objects in the sea. Harvest as many floating souls as you can during the given time period to succeed as a team. Watch out for orbs that spawn after harvesting the souls as they transform into ghosts that swallow your ship and spit it out uncontrollably somewhere further away. At least weak resistance is required for an event like this to stand a chance at survival.

This is the most rewarding event during your Sailing Co-op missions. Your objective is to shoot jellyfish with your harpoon throw (W and S buttons). The faster your channel completes the event, the fewer opportunities you'll have to kill purple jellyfish, meaning less sailing coins. Because of this avoid killing too many green jellyfish.

• Form a party! Jellyfish tagged by your teammates reward you loot.
• Attack mostly purple jellyfish, as they reward 6x Sailing coins per kill, green jellyfish only reward 1x.
• Tag jellyfish only a single time. Let other people finish the job for you.
• Don't attack jellyfish your party members have already tagged.
• Pickup any loot remaining in the ocean after the event ends to not miss out on sailing coins.

This event only takes place in theCold Snap Waters. Use your harpoon throw (W & S) to eliminate the 5 marlin fish that spawn. To deal damage, use "W" and use "S" in coordination with others to inflict a stun that lasts for 4.5 seconds to easier kill them. This event ends when all marlin are killed.

In this event the channel will be automatically divided into two teams: Yellow & Blue. Gather as many green or yellow barrels depending on which team you've been placed in to win! Pay attention to the minimap as on the outer edges red barrels can appear, these provide a lot of extra sailing coins so be sure to grab them. Once a barrel is picked up, the opposing color barrel will spawn. The best strategy is to trail behind an enemy and pickup the alternating barrels he leaves behind.

The most basic sailing co-op event there is. Sail into the circle area and press your treasure salvage button(Q). Repeat this until the event is over. You'll have a chance to get a golden box which rewards a few extra sailing coins, there is no way to influence this though.

This event can be utilized to complete the Una's Task "She Drifts, Sea Gifts" which rewards the Astray Construction Blueprint needed to build the Astray Ship. Arthetine & Yorn sailing co-op events begin with a treasure salvage event. Attend them to complete this daily easily, or use a Una's Tasks Instant Completion Pass. Note that the Una's Task has to be completed once normally to be able to skip it with a completion pass.

An event that only takes place in Sandstorm Seas. Activate your dragnet(E) and swim on top of the oil spills to obtain coins. Doing so gives a buff that gradually repairs your ship's durability letting you stay in this event even though your resistances might not be suited for it. Try to find a place with a few spills next to each other and rotate between them.

This event can only spawn in the Siren Seas. Attack hammerhead sharks(W & S) and gain contribution. For you to get full rewards, only the minimum contribution is required, which is 7%. After the event is over do not leave! Collect the 3 different color buoy. These are part of an achievement, collect 77 of them for the "Whale" title. They also give you various buffs like space boost recovery, ship speed and heal your durability slightly.

The fastest boat wins! Position yourself for the race before the timer hits zero and try to win. Interact with the buoy's with the G button when going past them and get yourself a speed boost. If you see barrels laying in your pathway, pick them up to refresh your space boost. Take the 1st buoy at the finish line, giving you additional sailing coins if you are leading the race.

Two docking stations are available when the event begins. Rescue as many drifting sailors as possible. Each sailor you carry slows down your ship and at 5x it becomes overloaded. Bring them to the docking station to remove this debuff and resume the process again. Complete the event fast enough for maximum rewards.
