As the calendar flips to June, the prospect world has been heating up, both with good and bad news. We unfortunately saw two of the top prospects from these stash rankings land on the minor league IL over the last week, but we also had a few notable promotions as well.

Over the last few days, we got a mini-wave of prospect promotions with Adam Mazur, Connor Norby, and Justyn-Henry Malloy getting the calls to San Diego, Baltimore, and Detroit, respectively.

Remember, stashing prospects should be done strategically and varies from league to league. Don't leave your teams without much depth just because you want all the high-upside prospects on your roster.

Fantasy Baseball Prospect Rankings Analysis

Jasson Dominguez, New York Yankees

After recording five hits in his first six games back (all in the first three games), Jasson Dominguez has heated up over his last eight games, hitting .400 with four home runs for Double-A Somerset. He'll continue his rehab with Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre and could rejoin the Yankees soon. The Yankees said Dominguez would stay in Triple-A once activated, but if he continues to mash, Dominguez will force their hand. I'm still expecting him back up by the end of June.

Junior Caminero, Tampa Bay Rays

Unfortunately, we won't be seeing Junior Caminero for another month or two as a quad strain will sideline the star third base prospect for 4-6 weeks. Caminero had been in the top spot or close to it in these stash rankings basically the entire season, but now the discussion shifts from when he will be up to whether we should even stash him. This all depends on your league size. If you play in a deeper league or have large benches, I'd hold on to Caminero. But those playing in 10-12 team leagues without deep benches are probably safe to cut him at this point.

James Wood, Washington Nationals

The other big prospect injury over the last week was James Wood, who is currently on the injured list with right hamstring tightness. Wood was cleared to do light baseball activity yesterday, which is encouraging, but also doesn't signal that a return to game action is imminent. At this point, I'm not sure we'll see Wood with the Nationals until after the all-star break. Stashing him is similar to what I said about Caminero above, but I'd be more willing to stash Wood as he likely beats Caminero to the Majors by a few weeks at least.

Jackson Holliday, Baltimore Orioles

Jackson Holliday is beginning to heat up at the plate for Triple-A Norfolk. Over his last 10 games, Holliday is slashing .364/.488/.667 with four doubles, two home runs, and a steal, pushing his on-base streak to 17 games. Norby just got the call to Baltimore, but if he struggles at the plate, it wouldn't surprise me to see Holliday Part 2 with Baltimore.

Noelvi Marte, Cincinnati Reds

The return of Noelvi Marte is drawing closer. Marte is exactly 3/4 of the way through his 80-game suspension and will be eligible to return to Cincinnati's lineup as early as June 27th against the St. Louis Cardinals. In 2023, Marte finished with a .316/.366/.456 slash line, three home runs, and six steals in 123 plate appearances while continuing to showcase his exciting blend of contact, power, and speed with a 46.1% hard-hit rate, 83% zone contact rate, and 91st percentile sprint speed.

The Reds desperately need Marte's bat back in the lineup, so expect him to get plenty of runs once he's back. Marte legitimately could provide Top 50 fantasy value over the second half of the season.

Jordan Lawlar, Arizona Diamondbacks

While it's a bummer not to have Caminero or Wood call-ups any time soon, it's not all bad on the prospect injury front as Jordan Lawlar has begun his rehab assignment with Arizona's Complex Level affiliate. It's going to take him a couple of weeks to get built back up, but Lawlar should jump into the starting lineup at shortstop once ready, spelling the light-hitting Kevin Newman to the bench. Lawlar's upside is an early-round fantasy star, and he's coming off back-to-back seasons with at least 16 home runs and 36 steals in the minors.

Deyvison De Los Santos, Arizona Diamondbacks

Another Diamondbacks prospect bat to keep an eye on is Deyvison De Los Santos. The book on De Los Santos has always been big power, which I've seen firsthand, and questionable contact skills. Well, he's done a much better job making more consistent contact here in 2024 without sacrificing any power. In 50 games between Double-A and Triple-A this season, De Los Santos is slashing .352/.404/.643 with 15 home runs and a 22.1% strikeout rate.

The problem is that Noel has played first base exclusively this season, and Christian Walker stands in his way. Barring an injury to Walker, De Los Santos' path to playing time is either moving back to the hot corner and taking Eugenio Suarez's spot or forming a DH platoon with Joc Pederson.

Jose Tena, Cleveland Guardians

After receiving a cup of coffee with Cleveland in 2023, Jose Tena returned to Triple-A in 2024 and put together a solid .286/.339/.443 slash line with eight home runs and seven steals across 229 plate appearances. He's been especially hot over the last 30 days, slashing .352/.409/.571 with six home runs and six steals in 115 plate appearances. Given his ability to play second base, third base, and shortstop, we could see Tena back up with Cleveland soon, but he's more of a deep-league target.
